We appear to have skipped spring and landed right in the middle of summer but I am not complaining – the sun and warmth is wonderful. Remember that the UV index can be quite high so send a hat for your child to wear outside, sunscreen is a good idea- if your child knows how to apply it, and sunglasses will protect their eyes.
A big thank you to all the parents involved in the Staff Appreciation Week. I feel so blessed to be in a school that demonstrates so much appreciation and respect for their school staff. I have worked hard to try and avoid the wonderful treats left but I must admit I failed – they were delicious!
Our cookie sale was a resounding success! One comment from the students – “more cookies need to be baked”. We raised $46.75 for Compassion Canada. Thanks to our busy bakers; Mrs. Kolmel, Mrs. Madden and Mrs. Van Dale.
Our violins and band performed at the Ascension Day Service at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church – it was a lovely stirring service and our students performed well. Thank you to Pastor Schnarr for working to get our students involved in the service.
Just 15 short days until our Evening of the Arts – please join us for a very busy evening. We look forward to a Bake Sale put on by We Care, a book fair hosted by the Early Years teachers and of course our students performing. The book fair and Read-a Thon draws begin at 5:30 and the performances begin at 6:30.
Our Read-a-thon commences this Wednesday the 15th of May and runs until the 29th. Prizes that children can win are on display in the front hallway of the school. For every $5 earned in pledges the students will receive one ballot to place in one of the draws. Prizes for top fundraiser will be given in grades K-3 and 4-8.
Our 2nd annual Music Night is already in the planning stages. Mark your calendars for Friday, November 29, 2013. This year’s holiday-themed event is guaranteed to put you in a festive mood.
Remember the PIP meeting on May 23(7:00) will include the election of the executive.
